U.S. created robot is going to be used for marine research, underwater exploration, offshore vessels, and chemical spills search. Jelly-fish-like-robot was created by the University of Virginia and its Polytechnic Institute engineers. The robots look like jelly-fish. The device weighs 250 grams and is made out of plastic, silicone and special ties.

Therefore, such robots will be applied not only for the military purposes but also for scientific research and other civil needs. Scientists expect that such robots will help to research sea depths and currents with a minimum interference into the natural world. The problem will be to protect these robots from sea predators. One of the biggest enemies are sea turtles because they are so scattered as to eat various objects thrown in the water, even plastic bags.
