The Port Authority will examine what is happening in the territory of Klaipeda Hydromechanics. The Port Authority has terminated land lease with this indebted company. Also, the court has to decide on another lease between two sides. In this territory, cargo handling takes place.

“Klaipeda Hydromechanics does not manage any cargo handling. It is done by some company named Kabotazas, having no rights to do such activities. Handling is not foreseen in our relationship. Kabotazas has rented 344 square meters of land beneath the buildings,” – commented Klaipeda State Sea Port Authority CEO Eugenijus Gentvilas.

According to him, something is happening behind the backs of Port Authority. On the other hand, the Port Authority does not feel any financial losses because they receive rates from all the ships Klaipeda Hydromechanics receives and loads with pulpwood. Cargo handling in this territory is comparatively low. The Port Authority intends to further investigate whether such handling is legal. Klaipeda Hydromechanics rents a quay of 180 meters and 3.6 hectares of land. Every year, it pays 215 thousand LTL for its rent. The land’s lease contract was suspended because the company became indebted.
