In addition to all the other oil product prices, ships’ fuel prices are also increasing. This is connected with the sanctions put on Iran’s oil. Shipping lines in the Baltic and North Seas have added additional fees for bunker costs. Depending on container size and movement distance, additional costs from the port of Klaipeda to Russian or European ports range from 50 to 200 Euros. A new option has been widely discussed to buy more oil from Russia instead of Iran. In the Baltic Sea, the transportation of oil will increase. Lithuania will not have any use of it because it does not transport Russian oil. However, the increase in oil prices will be felt in Lithuania. The container cargo will rise in prices or because of additional fees.
